Beautiful Virginia Beach Virginia
My wife and I recently took a weekend trip to Virginia Beach, VA. We had no idea the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first permanent English settlers in the New World was going on so we had a double treat. It was a spontaneous trip for other purposes but it just happened to be the week of our anniversary too! This was our first visit to the Virginia coast. It's always a little scary knowing where to make reservations in an area you know nothing about. Thanks to the great feedback reviews at Trip Advisor.com we found a wonderful hotel room right on the ocean with a terrific view of the boardwalk in Neptune's Park.
The Days Inn Virginia Beach-Oceanfront was a little pricy but ultimately worth every penny. It proved to be everything the positive reviews claimed, including the in room wireless internet access. Woo Hoo! The staff were all great. We checked in very late with no problems. The restaurant and lounge, Timbuktu, was affordable and the prime rib was like butter! Live Jazz music and an ocean view made for a great atmosphere. We were walking distance from more restaurants, shopping and other attractions. Catch 31, a lounge in the Hilton, was just next door to our hotel. We spent an evening enjoying their patio overlooking the ocean. The fire pits surrounded by circular seating were awesome!
Overall the weather wasn't the greatest but there were moments. It was so nice being able to leave our balcony door open and just listen to the roar of the ocean. We were so close to the water you could almost feel the spray. Our 7th floor balcony gave us a terrific vantage point for people watching. There were several beach volleyball tournaments going on and the boardwalk was bustling. Of course we took hundreds of pictures and wanted to share some of them with you. |
